PhD Defense: Congratulations to Sandra Mimoso on Her Cum Laude Achievement

We are delighted to announce that Sandra Mimoso has successfully defended her PhD thesis, entitled “microRNAs in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Beta-Cell Dysfunction”, with cum laude honors.

The defense and public presentation of her work took place on January 20, 2025, at 14:30, in the José Anastácio da Cunha Room, Department of Mathematics, Faculty of Sciences and Technology, University of Coimbra (FCTUC).

Sandra’s doctoral research was co-supervised by Dr. Hugo Fernandes (Advanced Cell Technology, ACT) and Dr. John Jones, and represents a significant scientific contribution to the field. What began as a modest side project has grown into an instrumental research line within ACT, opening new doors and fostering valuable collaborations.
