On October 31, 2025, Hugo Fernandes, researcher at the ACT Lab, visited Escola Secundária Lima-de-Faria in Cantanhede to give a talk as part of the Stem Cell Awareness Day celebrations, organized by Ciência Viva and the Portuguese Society for Stem Cells and Cell Therapy (SPCE-TC).
During the session, Hugo Fernandes introduced high-school students to the fascinating world of stem cell biology, discussing fundamental principles and the latest scientific advances in the field. The presentation also encouraged critical thinking about the ethical dimensions of stem cell research, fostering an open and engaging discussion.
Beyond science, students were invited to reflect on what it takes to pursue a career in research: curiosity, resilience, and a constant desire to learn.
This initiative reflects the ACT Lab’s ongoing commitment to science communication and public engagement, inspiring young minds and strengthening the connection between research and society.
