The 6th CiBB Retreat on Metabolism, Aging and Disease brought together researchers and students to discuss current challenges and advances at the intersection of metabolism, ageing, and disease. The event provided an important forum for scientific exchange, interdisciplinary discussion, and networking within the CiBB community.

The full scientific program of the retreat, including keynote lectures, oral communications, and poster sessions, is available online and can be consulted here.

The ACT Lab was represented by Cláudia Deus, who presented a poster entitled “miRNA-642a-3p modulates glucolipotoxicity-induced metabolic and mitochondrial dysfunction in pancreatic beta cells.”  The work addressed the impact of metabolic stress on pancreatic β-cell function and highlighted the role of miR-642a-3p in promoting mitochondrial resilience under glucolipotoxic conditions.

The poster was co-authored by Sandra Pinhanços, a recent member of the ACT Lab, who also contributed to the development of the study and its presentation during the poster session.

Participation in the 6th CiBB Retreat reinforced the ACT Lab’s engagement in research focused on metabolism and ageing, while fostering scientific dialogue and collaboration within the CiBB research community.
