On June 5th, 2025 – World Environment Day – students from class 6A (Theatre Group) of EB23 Dr.ª Maria Alice Gouveia School took part in a special hands-on activity titled "Recycle and Transform in Science! Less Plastic, More Planet!".
Organized in collaboration with the GreenLabs at the Center for Innovation in Biomedicine and Biotechnology, University of Coimbra (CIBB-UC), the activity aimed to promote environmental awareness and scientific curiosity.
During the session, students explored the work of scientists and learned how sustainable practices can be applied in research labs. They practiced pipetting, solution transfer, and microscope observation - just like real scientists!
Most importantly, they reused clean plastic lab waste to create useful and artistic objects, such as phone holders, plant pots, and pencil stands—demonstrating how recycling and upcycling can reduce waste and spark creativity.
The morning ended with a fun sustainability-themed game, reinforcing the message:
Think green, act smart!
